Advanced Life Support (ALS) - A Paramedic is a medical professional, and usually a member of an emergency medical services agency or fire department, who primarily provides pre-hospital advanced life support to medical and trauma patients
ALS refers to the skills and knowledge that a paramedic possess. The ALS provider may perform advanced procedures and skills on a patient using invasive and non-invasive procedures that include;
Cardiac monitoring
Cardiac defibrillation
Transcutaneous pacing
establishing Intravenous (IV) access
Intraosseous (IO) access and intraosseous infusion
Surgical cricothyrotomy
Needle cricothyrotomy
Needle decompression
Variety of medications
