Basic Life Support (BLS) often refers to emergency medical technicians that practice medical care in a basic scope of practice. Emergency Medical Technicians are limited with their skills and can give oxygen, splint and bandage injuries. Emergency medical technicians can also assist in the administration of a patient's own medication, as long as it is in their local scope of practice.
