Basic 911 describes a system where emergency services can be activated by calling the three digit telephone number 9-1-1. While not every region in the United States has 9-1-1 access, the 911 Act includes direction to the FCC to make 9-1-1 the universal emergency number. 9-1-1 access is still undergoing expansion throughout the United States.[1]
