Non-emergent Offloading Policy
If patient is greater than 16 years old and less than 65 years old, has stable vital signs, non-emergent complaint, patient can walk and talk, patient has had no medications nor interventions by EMS, and a nurse has not accepted a report and it has been greater than 20 minutes then an EMS Lieutenant is requested. If no transfer of care within 15 minutes of the lieutenant's arrival then the patient is transfered to the waiting room and the names of hospital personnel is recorded.[1]
