Serving the eighth largest city in the United States and the second largest city in California, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department is a multi-faceted organization that provides city residents with fire and life saving services including fire protection, emergency medical services and lifeguard protection at San Diego beaches. [1]

San Diego Fire-Rescue operates out of 47 fire stations located strategically throughout the City and 9 permanent lifeguard stations with over 1,000 uniformed personnel.

San Diego Fire-Rescue and Rural/Metro Corporation formed a public-private L.L.C., known today as San Diego Medical Services. Currently, San Diego Medical Services provides all medical transportation in the City of San Diego.
